The complete cooling system of the 300Tdi engine. incorporates three independent functions:- Engine. (coolant) cooling; Turbo (charge air) intercooling; Engine oil cooling. The intercooler is a separate aluminium unit, located. on the LH side of the engine compartment adjacent to. the radiator, sharing the same upper and lower.
As Daz says, seal on spindle. Easy enough to do in situ. Other common-ish place is the main O ring that seal rotor head to pump body. Where the injector lines enter the pump body you will see they screw into a 5" square 'plate' for want of a better discription. This is about 1.5" thick and is joined to the pump body.

If the oil seal on the exhaust side has gone then there wil be oil in the exhaust. If a turbo bearing is going then it may sqeal when boosting.
